A rereading of the Taoist space that shifts the relation between fullness and emptiness, light and dark, brings us to present Lien. The Lien lamp, suspended on slender, simplified brass supports, seems to float in the air, letting light filter through itself and creating a sense of delicate weightlessness in the surrounding space. The light radiating from its two cardinal points, north and south, vibrates in the ether around it, illuminating a marble base, while two bamboo branches encircle the structure as a natural, supportive element, typical to the Daya collection. Unbound by dimensional constraints and adaptable to any setting, Lien becomes an architectural impersonation, dividing spaces and rising to impressive heights.
Lien evokes the traditional Chinese lanterns once carried and left in numbers along rivers to mark paths and 'ward off the dragon that hovered in the darkness.'
